Janine grew up in the small rural town of Falun, Alberta. As soon as she could hold a pencil she was drawing, and while her 2 brothers were preoccupied with hockey, hunting, and fishing, she spent her spare time doing art, playing piano, and reading Stephen King books.
After graduating high school, she moved to Edmonton to go to Grant MacEwan College for Visual Communication Design and Illustration. After working as a graphic designer for several years, she still loved art but did not enjoy office life.
While bartending at local punk/metal bars in Edmonton, she started to meet more likeminded people, get tattooed, and go to tattoo conventions. After getting a job as a counter girl at a local tattoo shop, she was hooked and never looked back.
Completing her apprenticeship in 2014 under Anastasia Powell at Eye of the Lotus in Edmonton, she found her dream job in tattooing. She relocated to Calgary to work at Strange World Tattoo for almost 2 years where she continued to develop her skills, and joined Ambassador Tattoo in February of 2017.
Janine enjoys tattooing in all styles, but especially loves dotwork, flowers, animals, and illustrative tattoos. She also loves breakfast, 90's hip-hop, unicorns, and her little sphynx cat Leela.
